The 56th Annual Grammy Awards were held on January 26th, 2014. It would have taken place in Febuary, but was moved to avoid competition between the Grammys and the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.

Song of the YearEdit
Lorde was nominated for the official song of the year Grammy award. She won this award. She won it for Royals. She won against 'Roar' by Katy Perry, 'Locked Out of Heaven' by Bruno Mars, 'Same Love' by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and 'Just Give Me a Reason' by Pink.
Record of the YearEdit
Lorde was nominated for record of the year for the production of her hit single Royals. She lost to Get Lucky by Daft Punk, which was, ironically, her favorite song of of 2013. The other nominees were 'Radioactive' by Imagine Dragons, which broke the Billboard record for longest time on the chart, 'Locked Out of Heaven' by Bruno Mars and 'Blurred Lines' by Robin Thicke which spent the most time at number one in 2013.
Best Pop Solo PerformanceEdit
Lorde was nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance, which she won. She won the award for her hit Royals against Katy Perry's 'Roar', Sara Bareilles' 'Brave', Bruno Mars' 'When I Was Your Man' and Justin Timberlake's 'Mirrors'.
Best Pop Vocal AlbumEdit
Lorde was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album. She lost to Bruno Mars' Unorthodox Jukebox. Lorde was nominated for her debut album Pure Heroine. The other three competitors were Lana Del Rey's Paradise, Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines and Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience.
Lorde performed Royals at the Grammy Awards. She was the second person to perform at the show.
She had straight hair, wearing a white shirt and black pants. She also had her fingernails painted black.
