The Love Club is the debut extended play of Lorde. It was released to Soundcloud, a music sharing website in November 2012, and was officially released on March 8th, 2013. The EP has mostly recieved good reviews, due to it's lyrics and vocals.

BackgroundEdit

Lorde began writing songs on her guitar around the age of 14.  Eventually, she met with writer and song producer Joel Little, and they started working on The Love Club, Lorde's debut EP.

I feel like in many ways [Lorde]’s the antidote to disposable pop music...it was accessible to the same people who listen to Katy Perry, for instance, but there’s obviously something more authentic and personal to Lorde’s music. I got the sense she represents the return to a singer-songwriter approach to songwriting, and yet she has a knack for writing incredibly infectious melodies.

PromotionEdit

To promote The Love Club, Lorde performed at "Le Poisson Rouge", a popular venue in New York City, on August 6th, 2013. This was her first concert in the United States. Three days later, Lorde performed "Royals" and "The Love Club" on a Californian radio station.

The Love Club EP was initially released on SoundCloud in November 2012. After 60,000 copies of the EP were freely downloaded, Universal Music Group decided to release The Love Club for sales.
